Vocational Assessor

The role of a Vocational Assessor is to work with clients who have suffered from an injury and have either lost their pre-injury occupation or are at risk of losing their pre-injury occupation, to conduct comprehensive Occupational Assessments, taking into account the client's education, training, transferable skills, work experience and pre-injury earnings (where appropriate) to identify vocationally suitable alternative occupations for clients and report on these. These reports are prepared to assist Rehabilitation Case Managers to make informed rehabilitation and employment decisions towards achieving a work readiness outcome for the client.

Entry level criteria: At least two years relevant experience (field work whilst studying is excluded) in providing vocational rehabilitation services or related assessment services to ACC. A Tertiary qualification relevant to vocational rehabilitation (e.g. occupational therapy, rehabilitation, psychology, career counselling, social work, human resource management). Full class 1 driver licence. Competence in the use of MS Office. Current full membership of a relevant professional association (e.g. NZAOT, NZSP, NZAC, CDANZ, NZPsS, NZASW, NZOHNA). Vocational Consultant

The role of a Vocational Consultant is work with a wide range of clients across age groups, and from diverse backgrounds, to provide them with Career Counselling services, Curriculum Vitae Preparation, and/or a range of vocational training in modules such as: Job Search Techniques, Interview Techniques, Communication Skills, Personal Presentation, Cover Letters, Application Forms, Using Social Media or the Internet for Job Search, and Networking. Consultant's also liaise with a range of suppliers to arrange and co-ordinate Driver Licensing, Registration, Certificate of Approvals (Ministry of Justice), Computer Skills Development and Literacy / Numeracy Skill Development.

Entry level criteria: Two years relevant experience in vocational consultancy, counselling, rehabilitation and/or training. It is preferred that 12 months of this experience is within the rehabilitation sector. A Tertiary qualification relevant to vocational rehabilitation (e.g. occupational therapy, rehabilitation, psychology, career counselling, social work, human resource management). Full class 1 driver licence. Competence in the use of MS Office. Current full membership of the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC); or full member of the Rehabilitation Counselling Association of Australasia (RCAA); or Professional Member of the Career Development Association of New Zealand (CDANZ), or current current registration with the Psychologists Board, or current registration with the Social Workers Registration Board, or registered with the Occupational Therapy Board and a member of the New Zealand Association of Occupational Therapists. Recruitment Consultant

The role of a Recruitment Consultant is to work with a wide range of clients across age groups, and from diverse backgrounds, to prepare SMART targeted job search action plans, and deliver job brokerage and placement services to identify and secure employment opportunities for clients. Additionally Recruitment Consultants establish and maintain business relationships with employers in our local and national labour market to assist them with their recruitment needs and identify suitable candidates to fill vacancies.

Entry level criteria: Two years relevant experience in Recruitment, Human Resource Management, Marketing or Vocational Consultancy. A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management, Business Management, Marketing or Career Development is preferred by not required. Full class 1 driver licence. Competence in the use of MS Office. Current full membership with the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association (RCSA). Computer Trainer

The role of a Computer Trainer is to work with a wide range of clients across age groups, and from diverse backgrounds, undertaking Computer Skills Assessments, to identify specific areas requiring skill development, and developing a tailored computer skills training plan, and subsequently deliver entry level computer skills training in a one on one, client centred manner. Training on the following software is generally delivered: MS Office, Internet, email, MS Word, MS Excel, Powerpoint, MYOB and when required Voice Activated Software (VAS).

Entry level criteria: A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology or computer science. A Certificate in Adult Teaching or Adult Education is also preferred, but not required. Full class 1 driver licence. Must also pass a Police Check.

Literacy Trainer

The role of a Literacy Trainer is to work with a wide range of clients across age groups, and from diverse backgrounds, undertaking Literacy / Numeracy Skills Assessments, to identify specific areas requiring skill development, and developing a tailored literacy / numeracy skills training plan, and subsequently foundation level literacy / numeracy skills training in a one one one, client centred manner. Literacy / numeracy skills training is targeted to specific work type options, and/or requirements to gain specific licences (ie: heavy trade driver licencing).

Entry level criteria: Two years relevant experience in delivering Literacy / Numeracy assessments and training. A relevant tertiary level qualification such as the National Certificate in Adult Literacy Education or National Diploma in Adult Literacy Education. Full class 1 driver licence. Competence in the use of MS Office, and the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) Literacy / Numeracy Assessment Tool. Must also pass a Police Check.


Tertiary Qualifications in Career Development

There are a range of recognised training programmes in Career Development on offer through a variety of tertiary providers within New Zealand, including the Auckland University of Technology (Auckland), Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (Distance Learning), and Learning State Limited (Wellington).

Tertiary Qualifications in Vocational Rehabilitation
